I am delighted to welcome you to Sherburn High School and thank you for visiting our website. Sherburn is an 11-18 comprehensive school with nearly 1,000 students, and I am immensely proud to serve as its Headteacher.

It is a great honour to lead such a well-established, caring and inclusive school community as part of the Yorkshire Learning Trust. Sherburn High School has a strong reputation for academic success, commitment and community spirit, and we work tirelessly to ensure every member of our community feels valued and supported.

Our core aim is Achievement for All. We define achievement as every student and adult growing, succeeding and fulfilling their potential in whatever they pursue. This is underpinned by our core values of ambition, respect and community, which permeate every aspect of school life and ensure that Achievement for All is not just an aspiration, but an expectation.

Sherburn is an ambitious and aspirational school, with high-quality teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do. We believe that school improvement occurs through every interaction, and that the classroom is the most powerful place to implement and embed positive change. Alongside strong academic achievement, Sherburn High School places great importance on personal development, enrichment and creativity. Our Personal Development provision is designed to enhance every student’s experience, offering a wide range of opportunities that support growth beyond the classroom. These include a diverse extra-curricular programme encompassing sport, the arts, culture and languages, as well as trips and visits both in the UK and abroad. We are equally committed to supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing, and to providing leadership opportunities that develop confidence, responsibility and the skills needed for future success.
